Indigenous program re-named Creative Tracks and Logan Coordinator announced

We are pleased to announce that our Indigenous Community Program formerly known as Stylin’ Up Regional with now go under the newly developed banner of Creative Tracks. There are plenty of new things about the program and we will have many exciting updates for you in the near future.

Kaylah ‘Kayemtee’ Tyson has been engaged as the Logan Coordinator for the Program. Her passion, drive and determination to empower other young people in the community are an inspiration to all that meet her.

Kaylah ‘Kayemtee’ Tyson, formerly of Poetic Murriz, has been a mainstay on the local Brisbane rap/hip hop scene supporting artists such as Naughty By Nature, Street Warriors and Impossible Odds and collaborating with The Last Kinection.

She has toured to such communities as Weipa, Napranum, Aurukun, Coen, Hopevale, Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton and Gove (NT) as a dancer, emcee and workshop facilitator.

In 2010, Kayemtee completed a Diploma in Performing Arts at the Aboriginal Centre for the Performing Arts (ACPA). During her time there she was in such theatre productions as Reflections, Q150 & Long Before, Something Of a Midsummer Night’s Dream-Time and X-Stacy under the direction of Leah Purcell.

Kayemtee is working on her debut solo EP to be released through Impossible Odds Records

Kayemtee will coordinate the program in Logan and will be engaged as an facilitator in other communities.

We are hiring – Business Development Manager

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Business Development Manager to join our team.

Reporting to the Human Ventures General Manager and Creative Director, the Business Development Manager will play an integral role in the achievement of Human Ventures’ Vision and Mission.

Based in Brisbane, and working on a part time basis, you will have substantial Business Development and Sales skills and experience, and be passionate about working for an innovative organisation that delivers positive community outcomes.

The Role:

The Business Development Manager will be integral to the achievement of Human Ventures’ Vision and Mission, and the achievement of Key Strategic Goals.

The responsibilities of the Business Development Manager include:

  • Driving the growth in revenue generated by Human Creative – the Profit for Purpose Arm of Human Ventures, by identifying and securing revenue opportunities, then guiding them to fruition
  • Liaising with clients and partners to develop and maintain long term partnerships
  • Contribute to the growth of the Human Ventures Corporate, Client, Partner and Donor Base

Experience and Qualifications

Strong experience and qualifications in the field of Sales and Business Development will be well utilised. As will the ability to exceed sales and revenue targets. An established network of contacts and a strong history of client relationship management will be essential.

We are hiring – Indigenous Regional Program Manager

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Program Manager to join our team.

Reporting to the Human Ventures General Manager and Creative Director, the Indigenous Regional Program Manager will play an integral role in the achievement of Human Ventures’ Vision and Mission.

The Role
The Indigenous Regional Program Manager is responsible for the development and delivery of the Program (formerly known as Stylin’ Up Regional, name TBC) in the communities of Cherbourg, Woorabinda, Hope Vale and Logan.

The Manager is expected to work with the Human Ventures Management team and Regional communities to develop and coordinate the regional delivery of Arts and Cultural programs, initiatives, workshops and opportunities for young people in identified Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities throughout Queensland. This position is responsible for liaising with young people, clients, government agencies and community organisations for service delivery whilst coordinating freelance and subcontracted Creative Arts Facilitators.

Through arts, culture and story-telling, this program works with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people to strengthen, celebrate and determine identity and future. The program engages and collaborates with communities and young people holistically to strengthen social networks, local capacity and specific skills that contribute to social change.

Experience & Qualifications

  • High level of experience working with Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander communities
  • Commitment to and understanding of Community Cultural Development and Arts development practices
  • Experience in developing arts and cultural based programs
  • Writing and acquitting funding proposals

Indigenous regional arts program revitalised

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We are extremely excited to announce that Human Ventures has been successful in securing 3 years of funding to build upon the program previously known as Stylin’ Up Regional. 

This updated youth arts program will work closely with the communities of Cherbourg, Woorabinda, Hope Vale and Logan to inspire young people to be confident, creative, connected to their community and to build professional skills.

We are very happy to see this important program revitalised and we look forward to sharing the stories and outcomes with you. In the coming months we’ll be recruiting a Program Manager, asking people to be part of an Indigenous Advisory Committee, and working closely with members of each community to design and deliver the new program.

Stylin UP Regional (2005-2010) Album – listen and vote

Recently, Human Ventures produced and released the Stylin UP Regional (2005-2010) album.

The album features the ‘deadly’ beats and lyrics of 260 young artists from Logan, Hope Vale, Cherbourg and Woorabinda. It has been inspired by stories from elders, and involves the creative input of more than 20 artsworkers and many workshops, dances, disco’s and time with young people.

In celebration of the release of this long awaited compilation CD, the young people of Cherbourg, Hope Vale and Woorabinda have loaded tracks and pix onto myspace and triple j unearthed.

Linked into the Stylin’ UP Festival, an annual event coordinated by the Inala Elders and Brisbane City Council, the program is guided by the message of “pride in self, pride in community, pride in culture”. Stylin’ UP Regional provides a forum for young people to tell stories, share yarns with elders, celebrate indigenous identity and plays a role in building strong communities.
