New year to bring creative leadership change
The recent announcement that Founder and Creative Director of Human Ventures, Aleem Ali, will finish in his current role, but remain on the Board, has prompted a few key appointments and changes in the company.
The roles of Creative Director and Design Manager will be filled in January 2011 by existing Human Ventures (Human) staff.
Andrew Gibbs, who has been with the company since 2007, is stepping into the role of Creative Director.
“I’m very pleased to be handing the reins to Andrew,” stated Ali.
“He is an exceptional talent, and brings great experience, energy and vision to the role. I am confident that both he and James Boreham, our General Manager, will continue to build on the company’s successes.”
Commenting on his appointment, Gibbs said, “I’m really looking forward to working with the team at Human in my new role to both continue our leading work and also develop new and innovative projects and partnerships.”
“Aleem has done amazing things at Human,” Gibbs continued, “his passion and knowledge have been a real asset to the company and he’s been a fantastic mentor to me.”
Martin Hull, currently a Senior Designer at Human, will be taking on the role of Design Manager
Martin joined the Human team in May this year, bringing more than 13 years of branding and design experience having worked on international brands in studios and at magazine publishers in both London and Brighton (UK).
“The Human design studio has always delivered cutting edge design solutions to our ever growing list of clients and I’m relishing the opportunity to further develop and strengthen our design offering,” stated Hull.

Founder makes way for company talent
Founder and Creative Director of Human Ventures, Aleem Ali, has announced that he will finish in his current Executive role at the end of the year, but will continue to serve on the Board.
“It’s been an amazing journey,” stated Ali.
“To date, we’ve impacted more than 50 communities and 10,000 people and our work continues to bring positive and lasting change.”
Having been at the helm for close to 9 years, Ali believes that the time is right for him to pursue international development opportunities and is looking forward to maintaining close ties with the organisation as an active Board member.
“Human Ventures is strongly positioned to build on the leading work that we do throughout Queensland,” he said.
“Having just secured Triennial operational funding through Arts Queensland, and with burgeoning talent in the organisation, the future is very exciting.”
The Board of Human Ventures acknowledged Ali’s significant contribution, and was also pleased to announce an internal succession plan.
“Aleem has brought an incredible passion and energy to the organisation and the communities in which we work,” stated company Chairman, Rupert Bryce.
“Aleem’s belief and commitment to Human Ventures has enriched the lives of many young Australians, enabling them to realise their potential, build their confidence and overcome disadvantage,” Bryce continued.
“His ability to deliver positive outcomes for all our stakeholders has been widely recognised and greatly appreciated.”
Human Ventures appointed a General Manager to the Executive Management Team in July this year.
The General Manager, James Boreham, has extensive experience and expertise in finance and strategic business management, having worked for more than 18 years in banking and financial services.
“It’s not always necessary to look outside an organisation for key appointments,” noted Boreham.
“We have approached and been working with a number of key staff at Human Ventures who have demonstrated the commitment and talent to play a significant role in the organisation’s future.”
“And we are in a great position at Human Ventures to have experienced, energetic and highly regarded people in our ranks who can continue, enhance and build on Aleem’s work.”
Human Ventures will be releasing further detail about these appointments in the near future.

‘we are Human’ manifesto published
A document that will underpin the philosophy and practices of soon to be established company, Human Ventures (Human), was published today.
Titled, the ‘we are Human’ manifesto, the document highlights the challenges we face as humans and also offers aspirations and hope for the future.
The manifesto suggests that “the greatest evil is the lack of love and charity, the terrible indifference toward one’s neighbour”, and that the path of peace and hope is in realising we are part of something bigger than ourselves. Read more
