Opportunities to actively engage in creative and cultural activity can begin to address issues of alienation and disconnection. Active engagement and participation through creative arts and culture is handson, connects individuals and communities, encourages active citizenry and empowers people to be more than passive consumers and recipients.
Expression
Inherent in all stages of engagement, education, enquiry and enterprise – creative expression is both the communication and output of creative innovation. We encourage innovative and diverse forms of expression that allow individuals and communities to be heard. We acknowledge the right to freedom of expression and also the responsibility to respect the rights, freedoms and reputations of others.
Education
Creative arts have a distinct role to play in developing a culture of innovation. Skills development and education through creative arts and creative industries practices can develop an individual’s capacity and ability to communicate effectively, think critically, collaborate and apply ideas to find solutions.
Enquiry
Critical and creative enquiry is the foundation of creative innovation and the search for new answers to old questions. We use it to examine and learn from the past, confront the present, adapt to change and imagine the future.
