Aleem Ali

Founder & Creative Director

Aleem was born and raised in Redcliffe (South-East Queensland) by parents who:

  • juiced (and drank) most pieces of vegetation on their relatively self-sufficient suburban block;
  • boycotted the large, local supermarket because it was owned by a South African company (during the apartheid regime);
  • sent him to both Sunday School and the Mosque; and,
  • had a home computer in the early 80’s

Consequently, it is little wonder that he has an abiding passion for sustainability, social justice, cultural understanding and technology.

Now 36 years of age, Aleem has more than 15 years experience as a cultural worker, entrepreneur, mentor and executive.

Aleem has worked with Local, State and Federal governments, small to medium enterprises, philanthropic and community organisations.

He has established and managed nationally-acclaimed mentoring programs, facilitated youth conference programs, developed and delivered numerous community and cultural development projects and lead the development and growth of leading enterprises.

Other professional activities have included Advisor on various arts and cultural panels; Lecturer in Arts Business Management; and, keynote Speaker at various conferences and events.

In 2001, Aleem co-founded and established Speak Out limited in Brisbane. Working with a committed and skilled team, SpeakOut grew from an idea to a social change agency that enriches the lives of more than 3000 individuals and 30 communities.

In 2008, Aleem was appointed as a Director of the Foundation for Young Australians and Chair of the Regional Arts Fund (Qld) Panel.

Amidst all these endeavours he prioritises family life and is a very proud father of 6 children.
