Inspiring Kids To Care

Inspiring Kids To Care

Our client contacted Human Creative with an idea for a website that would make donating to a charity simple and appealing to young people, particularly teenagers.

We set out to make this idea a reality and scoped and designed a highly customised website with smart social media integration, member profiles, a donation payment gateway and a merchandise shop all editable within a WordPress CMS.

It was important to our client to empower members for contributing so we also built in functionality such as the ‘Wall of Fame’ for regular donors and activity feeds that profile members to inspire others to get involved in the causes. With countless charities and ever increasing humanitarian crises, it is hard to know where to start helping. Our solution asks what people care about, provides succinct information and facilitates donations to dozens of charities, all in one simple website.

Positive Art for Woorabinda

Positive Art for Woorabinda

Woorabinda is a remote Community a few hours south west of Rockhampton. Human Creative were engaged by the Woorabinda Aboriginal Shire Council to run a series of workshops with young people in late April 2014.

Human worked closely on the design and execution of a large mural with traditional owners, council, local artists and young people on community service orders.

Woorabinda had some trouble with vandalism and graffiti on public and private property. The intention of the project was to engage young people and the broader community in a public art piece to help change perceptions around street art, create a positive example and teach valuable skills for artists to continue to contribute art in the community. The workshops were a great success, over 30 participants attended each workshop and the feedback from the community has been overwhelmingly positive.

Shockwave Blackall: Hyper Colour

Shockwave Blackall: Hyper Colour

Since 2011, the young people of Winton and the surrounding area have participated regularly in the Shockwave Program program.

This includes kids from all towns in the West (and further beyond) coming together once a year to showcase their creativity and leadership at the youth run Shockwave Festival, held in Blackall. The overall aim of the program is to support rural youth to develop confidence, leadership, resilience and self worth.

This year, however, is extra special as Shockwave Program launches its first professional exhibition. This Generation Next exhibition for 2013/2014 displays some of the processes and outcomes of our program. It has also provided young people from Winton with training in exhibition production.

The opportunity to showcase their art has been embraced with a youthful energy and imagination by all our young participants. As a result there are an array of colourful artworks on display. It seemed appropriate to call this exhibition ‘Hyper Colour’.

The exhibition will be featured at the Waltzing Matilda Media Centre in Winton between November 22, 2013, and March 6, 2014.

To checkout the exhibition, visit the photo album on the Shockwave Blackall Facebook page here.

Digital Stories Across Generations

Digital Stories Across Generations

The Making Sense Project was a partnership between the Tasmanian Government, Contemporary Art Tasmania andPresbyterian Care Tasmania and Human designed to capture the unique stories of the Scottsdale region as told by their oldest residents.

Human Creative worked closely with a core team of long-term unemployed young people and skilled them up in video production, sound recording, interviewing, animation and editing. We then spent time interviewing and capturing the stories of the residents of Aminya, Scottsdale’s aged care facility.

The process unveiled the rich history of the region through a unique, personal approach. The digital stories produced through this pilot project have great opportunities to be leveraged to grow local tourism to the area.

Virtualising Memory

Virtualising Memory

Human Creative designed and developed Memory Makes Us – an online platform which allows visitors to follow 3 stories from the memories of 3 writers simultaneously at the 3 Writers Festivals around Australia.

Our solution utilised Google Docs ‘Live Authoring’ with a simple WordPress Content Management System that enabled the core functionality. In addition we gave visitors the ability to contribute their own ‘memories’ by submitting text, images and video as well as social media feeds. The user-generated memories and social media contributions will also feed into the Author’s live story as dynamic inspiration. The site is fully responsive ensuring visitors could follow the story and contribute from any device. The site already hosts a wealth of user-contributed memories. We look forward to the first event ‘Wordstorm’ on the 30th May.

Check it out at memorymakesus.org.au
